We were touring around Northern Vancouver Island last week and happened upon "The Worlds Largest Burl"in Port McNeil. The funny ting was about a kilometer up the road was another one claiming the same fame. Apparently this one is the winner at 24 tons.

And this was one of the larger Sitkas I saw but did see lots of other beauties. This one was on Malcom Island.

Wow! Think of the rosettes you could build with that bad boy!

Thanks for sharing.

That’s unbelievable!

I have to wonder though, how long did it take to grow that big?

I’ll take a guess at, 3000 years!

Anyone else?

Robert

You must be thinking of some other family. That tree was lucky I was on
holiday and didn't have a chain saw with me.

Did you, at least, tap it to see if it had a good tone?

That tree was probably 700 - 800 years old. The locals said it was 220 ft.
tall. Although I didn't get to talk to the guy who put the tape measure on it.
