I have been looking for this site.  I finally sent an email to find out if it still existed.  The Author/Photographer is a guy by the name of David Cortner.  He is a prof. at ECU (East Carolina Univ.) and is a photographer extraordinare, designer, promoter of local music, and really nice guy.  His new website is www.davidcortner.com, and it is very nice, though has a commercial intent.  The old site, which I like and browse often, is http://davidcortner.com/index_pers.html and is worth a long look.

If you are interested in photography of any kind, Astronomy, or astrophotography, take a look.  He has some great pictures on the site of unusual formations and wonderful scenes.  He is a great talent.

His local music page is pretty cool too.  CD designs are great.

We (The Rosewood Guild, my guitar ensemble) used his photograph of "Venus among the Pleiades" as the cover of our Christmas Album "Chriistmas Everlasting".

Indeed we do.  That's an old picture from two years ago.  I was the only guy then.  We're back up to 2 now.  I doesn't look like I have a harem. I need to update the website.  Pretty bad when the avocation has a website, and the business does not.  Hmmm.  Prioroities!

We do the Carolina Renaissance Festival every year, and have since it's inception (13 years).  It is a lot of fun, but it is also a lot of weekends gone from the first one in October until the week before Thanksgiving.

The sign in the back, Bathos the Muse, is Eddie Jeff Cahill.  He is one of the best (fingerpicking) guitar players I have ever met.  He sings and plays.  He is an old hippie, and he can play all kind of stuff.  I love listening to him, and never get tired of his playing.  He has a CD on CDBaby Here.  You can listen to some of the clips.

What spurred the first entry  was the discussion of Astronomy on the Main Discussion Forum.  I didn't mean to develop a Rosewood Guild Thread.  Cortner is really an amazing talent.

That's a lot of classicals in one place. I would like to hear your guitar ensemble but I couldn't find any .mp3 links. Are you planning to put some on or are they already there and I missed them? Tell me about the guitars in the picture, I can't quite make out the headstocks, one on left sort of looks like a ramirez, any famous luthiers?

Thanks.  If you go to the page that shows the CD, you can click on selections, and it will list the pieces on each cd. Some of them have clips.  If you go to CDBaby, all the pieces have clips for the two cd posted there.  The website is way out of date, and needs updating.  We are actually back to the same group as we were in the 2000 picture in the Gallery.  Older now and not as pretty .

No famous guitars.  Couple of Hernandez Grand Concert, I think, a Garcia Grand Concert(same as a Hernandez), All three of those are Rameriz knock offs. Kim has a Ymaha, and I play an MH-80 (Aria Maestro).  A Ren Fest is probably not the place to hump around your best guitar, although, that little MH-80 probably is my best guitar in reality.

For any of you who were really interested in the Astrophotography stuff, here is another link to David Cortner's site that he said he fixed so the links now work. Great site.  http://www.davidcortner.com/oldindex.html

Waddy:

You are right! Although I'm a rank amateur photographer, I can recognize quality when I see it. That man is one of the better photographers I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. Wow.

"A great talent". Indeed. And Connelly Springs is not far at all. My firm does some work near there. I'll have to go through his site a bit more.

Thanks for the heads up.

His site used to have more pictures on it, but I guess with the new site, some have been relegated to archives.  There was some good stuff.  One of his photos was used in the movie "Cold Mountain" for the sky at night in a couple of scenes.  He is also a very talented designer.  I particularly like the little brook he made babbling over a bed of Fender Picks, with the Mandolin in the water.  It is particularly cool if you ask me.
