Well Folks,

It is Monday arvo over here in Western AU, so as promised, the book has been posted and should hopefully be arriving in Norway in around 8 to 10 days time.

I did try getting in the box as well so I could check out some Norse culture and maybe have a beer or two and a burnt sheepshead barbie with me mate Arnt, but with me in there no one at the PO could lift the box, so I just had to bail out.

Anyhow, in all the struggle getting in and out again I think some stuff fell out of my pocket and got wrapped up with the book! Twas a very good thing that Bob Connor supplemented the postage or I would never have been able to afforded to be so freak'in careless with my stuff

Onya Bob, the $20 bucks was a big help.

(Oh, that's right, Paul Burns drank your 20 so I guess we should be thanking him to for putting it back, thanks Paul )

Cheers

Kim

I'll give this a bump just to be sure that Arnt knows she's on the way.

Cheers

Hey Kim,
the book showed up!

I got a phone call from my daughter when I was at work today. She said there had been a package for me in the mailbox that was so big that she'd skinned her knuckles getting it out. I was busy and absent minded as usual so was not able to tell her what it might be, but as soon as I saw it on the kitchen counter when I got home I remembered; the book! The box looked big for a book, though...? Well, not only was the book in there, our mate Kim also put some very nice pieces of Aussie zoot in there with it, and not just a few, listen; four pieces of headstock sized tiger myrtle, two more that are big enough for rosettes, one piece of curly jarrah that can be resawn into book matched, headstock veneers, another piece that will make 3 - 6 butt wedges, one more that is big enough for a bridge, and lastly a piece if mulga which could make a nice bridge... I know what they are because he put little sticky notes on each one saying what they are, I have never used any of these woods before. And I guess they are for me, because Kim put another note in there where it says so!

Sooooo, what can I say? I have never met you Kim, and perhaps you'd rather not have me blurting out with all this, but you really made my day! THANK YOU! Whatever instrument these pieces will end up on, I'll make sure the history of their origin will be mentioned and it make it more special; to me, anyways.

So this puts the pressure on the rest of us...

Hey Arnt,

Glad to hear that all arrived OK, hope the wood comes in handy. I was just paying a little forward for what has so generously come to me since joining this group. The Tiger Myrtle had been given to me as a freebie by Tim Spittle of Australian Tonewoods so I just cut you a few bits. There are 2 matched sets, you should be able to get a headstock back veneer, a headstock overlay a rosette and maybe even a butt inset which were cut from the same board. The set which only has dark spotted figure on half should pop nicely under a finish as the clean pink half has a lot of curl.

The mulga is very stable and you should be able to dimension it down to a bridge with a weight to suit most taste. When you work it, have a sniff, smells every bit as sweet as BRW if not it's sweeter.

Anyhow, enjoy mate

Cheers

Kim
