Hey guys, my buddy Ed Cunliff went to ASIA this year and met a few builders there. Now he is trying to organize a get-together somewhere around the OKC area, which would be fairly easy for folks from Arkansas, Kansas, Texas to attend.

I told him I would put something up on the OLF and see if there was any interest. As far as I know a particular date and time has not been set yet.

Lemme know if anyone's interested, okay?

John, no requirement to have any certain number of completed instruments, just an interest in the lutherie field. Anyone from the OLF or other forums are welcome!

I'm hoping some of out Arkansas and Kansas neighbors will jump in here too.

Dave, I might could make it. Depends on day and date and the temp needs to drop 20 or 30 degrees. 112 degrees in my shop today.

Ron, it would be good to visit with you again!

I agree about the temp. I'm not sure what Ed's thinking but I would vote for early October or so if it was up to me. 102 here today, not in the shop though

Lake Texhoma or even Ardmore would not be a bad location.

Cool! Looks like the list is growing.

Michael, I'm thinking Texhoma or Ardmore might be a little far south for folks from Kansas or Missouri to travel. Like I said, it's Ed's deal though. I'll try to talk to him in the next couple days and see what he has in mind.

No guarantees, but I'd be interested. Depending on when it's scheduled, of course. My odd work schedule always kills my plans, seems like.

I was getting married at the time of the last gathering at Ron's... I don't plan on getting married again anytime soon so I'll have a better chance at making this one.

I was just thinking about that... I'm hoping to have it in my hands in a couple weeks, though I haven't gotten word yet that it's complete.

Wes, I know what you mean about the work schedule. That's the hardest part about making one of these things work.

Jon, I too would love to see your new Lowden! Please make sure to bring it if you get it in time.

Bruce, you'd better come, Lowden or not...

Bob, I'm not sure what you mean. Folks from Denver are just as welcome as everyone else.

Dave, let us know when you are about to cross the state line and we'll alert the Jayhawk Killers to let you pass.

Sorry Jared, I didn't see your post. Must have slipped in while I was answering the others.

Where are you located?

Hey!  I'm in Houston and would like to attend if its within a days drive.  If it were around Christmas I go to SE "Kansaw" to visit in-laws if that is a good time.

Can someone tell "old man" Ron that it is not necessary to heat one's shop to bend sides!

I was in Hot Springs last week and people there were going to the bath houses for a refreshing dip in the mineral baths.....

Yeah, Steve, I know. But it makes it really handy to keep the shop at 112. You can just bend the side over your knee and the glue flows so easy, and lots of other advantages, too.

Steve, come on up! I doubt that it will be as late as December though. I'm thinking we're shooting for late Sept or early Oct.

I talked to Ed and asked him to chime in here since it is HIS get-together. I only agreed to post it on the forum to see if there was a broader interest.

Maybe he'll stop by today,,,,,

Thanks to Dave for kicking off the discussion. There were several of us at ASIA that thought it would be fun together, and my big regret is that I didn't take names. It seems like there were folks in the Ponca City area that were intereted - right off of I35, between OKC and Wichita. Work sure gets in the way of important things - is early Nov too late? The 3rd or the 10th? We could find something in the
OKC area if no one else speaks up and one of those weekends would work. My shop is a garage and departed kids bedroom - it works, but not a place for a visit.
