Does anybody here make their own rosette tiles? I am working on a batch right now and am wondering how you thickness the logs to make the correct circle diameter? I believe I need to make the top of the veneer strip .025" and the bottom of the strip .023". If I leave the tiles the same, it will just be a bunch of squares which won't wrap properly around the sound hole. How do you take a veneer strip approx. 6" long and 1/8 wide, and thickness it down to those measurements? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

John

P.S. I can post pics if you're not following what I'm trying to do.

Make all of your squares perfectly square, then take
a little sandpaper and sand the edges so it will fit.

Hmm, do you mean glue the entire logs together for the final design, and then sand the edges, or sand the veneer edges before I glue the final log?

Thanks for the e-mail BTW about the FP class. I don't get to Indiana and close on our house in Lafayette until 1 Aug, so am not sure if I will be able to make it for the Aug class. Please keep me on your e-mail list when you get new course dates. That's one course I will definitly take, hopefully sooner than later.

Cheers!

John

I sand the final mosaic tiles, rather, each repeated section, I sand the edge to the angle that will allow the larger tiles to fit around. It takes some time, but, is well worth it.

No problem about the class. I might be able to move the class depending on my scheduele. Let me know when you can make it into town, and I will also be offering it next year, so, there are many oppertunities.
