No, not the one Rick was suggesting...

I'm looking for a source for 3/16" saddle and nuts (1/4" would be ok too).  High quality, dense and even.  No middle man would be nice.  Will buy up to 100 of each or I'd be interested in splitting a larger order with others.

i get my blanks from euphonon. have found their unbleached bone to be of excellent quality.

I bought a large quantity of nuts and saddles from a guy from taiwan on ebay. I had heard horror stories about them being odd shaped, curved, warped, etc, but they were so cheap I decided to buy some to take a look at. I was shocked at the high quality I recieved and the quickness of delivery. Nicely bleached  and dense bone nuts and saddles. They are all oversize and need to be shaped and cut to size, but I actually enjoy shaping my own nuts and saddles anyway. The ones I got are straight as an arrow and nicely sanded to uniform thicknesses also.

There is another guy in taiwan that I like dealing with also on MOP, abalone, bone and inlays. His name is Bruce Weiart and he has some really good prices on MOP and Abalone rosettes also.

I have bought bridge pins with abalone dots from him as well as some MOP and Abalone in half kilo quantities (about a pound). Again he combines shipping, so when you order from him buy several things and he will ship it for one price. The shipping is extremely modest and usually gets here within a couple of days of shipping.

By the way, I bought 5 sets of bridge pins with the abalone dot in them for $.99 cents. These look as good or better than the ones Martin sells for $24.95/set or about 20 cents per set. He carries all kinds of bridge pins and end pins including rosewood, ebony, buffalo horn, buffalo bone, and several others. All good quality stuff.

I'm letting some of my trade secrets slip out here, but this forum has been such an invaluable resource for me that I want to repay some of the favors.  I hope it helps some of you.

I have tryed stuff from both those guys on Ebay... friendly people and fast shippers but the quality of the stuff was definitely not up to my standards and ended it up in the trash. Sure its cheap and will do the job if you are building a guitar for yourseld, but if you demand the best and want your guitar's quality to be a reflection of your work's quality, I'm sure the extra few bucks will make the difference. I've had people say to me "WOW, that Abalone is really gorgeous...." I got good quality hand selected material from a reputable source and in the end it spoke for itself.

Please give our sponsors a chance. Some of them will work with you and more than often will lend a hand when someone is in trouble or in need.
Remember, the cheap stuff that those Chinese or Korean guitar companies use may not be the same stuff you want on your guitars.
