Betula alba, Masser birch and flatsawn..not so stable that way. The figure is caused by bark inclusions. This wood is farmed in Sweden..huge plantations.

Rats..thought I had a lock on this one, but after close look I don't see the bark lines.

Bob, is it actual true birdseye forming cones from indented rings growing larger towards the bark side or bud growth forming immature burl patches or single bud growth spots?

Come to think of it I have some big leaf with spots like that for solid tops.

Impressive stuff none the less.
