Well, I've finally finished the koa 000 I started back in January. It's the second one completed (third start), but it took longer than #1. I'm quite happy with it, though. I read everything I could find here and around the web by Alan Carruth about Chladni patterns. Thank you Alan!! The resonant frequency of the x-braced back is about a semi-tone above the top, with both plates glued onto the rim and the bridge on. Nice fat range of tones, this one. Much fuller in the lower pitches. Koa and Lutz from BobC, Mad rose bindings with black fiber/maple purflings, 24.9 scale, CF neck bars. Lots of fundamental. French polish without oil; my walnut oil wasn't drying and I never got around to getting another batch.

A debt of gratitude to the OLF!!

I'd forgotten how tricky the vintage Martin style nuts are.

That looks very nice, you seemed to have nailed the finish just fine. I like the Koa, not too much, just enough to still be classy rather than blousy. I'd be happy to have built that.

Do try and get some more oil though, it allows a little more pressure to be used leading to a harder build.

Classy looking Pat. I like so many aspects of your guitar:
...Nice FP execution...how difficult to do without oil
...Mitred purfs...always an indicator of attention to detail, patience and skill.
...Headstock inlay...what material did you use...I like it a lot.
Voicing...do tell more about how you did glitter testing

That's right. There are bamboo forests in Hawaii. Goes really well Pat with the Koa. What a nice guitar. The miters seperate the men from the boys. Excellent work. Gorgeous.
