Finally finished my #1 last night.

Dread
Walnut B&S
Sitka Spruce Top
Curly Maple Binding & End Graft
Ebony Bridge, Fingerboard
Mahogany Neck

Took a good year and a half for me to build, but I've learned a lot (what to do and what not to do next time).

A Sincere Thank You to everyone here on the OLF. I couldn't have done it without you.

Thanks for looking.

Fine piece of work, Blain! You should be proud.

What's the finish?

What will #2 be?

Thank you all for the kind words.

Rick, Welcome to the OLF. You have come to the right place. There is a wealth of information here that will help you through all of your steps while building #1, and if you can't find it I'm sure someone will be able to answer any questions that you have.

Heath, it plays and sounds great. She's got a very loud voice.

Pat & Red, the finish is Shellac/French Polish. And for #2 I'm planning to build the same size, but with EIRW B&S & Bloodwood Binding and a Bearclaw Spruce Top. Not sure about the headplate, Fingerboard & Bridge yet, but am open to suggestions.

And my plans for #3 are to build almost identical to #1 except as a cutaway (possibly change up the bindings a bit).

Then I'll get into some different sizes on #4 and later.

Does anyone know where they offer support for this addiction of mine? I feel that I'm still in the early stages and could possibly seek help since I only shake and sweat when I'm not building.

Thank you all again for the kind words.

Very nice indeed Blain!

I'd love to get a chance to play it and hear it's voice for myself. Looks like you paid a lot of attention to the details also and your fit and finish are excellent.

GREAT job!

PS: if there is a cure for the addiction of making music from an instrument that you created with your own hands, I dont know it. Welcome to our world

Blain,

That looks great

Hope it sounds as good as it looks.

What did you think of the walnut for the back and sides? I have a set queued up, how was it to work with?

Thank you all for the kind words.

Wayne, the Walnut was great to work with. Very easy to bend, pore fill, etc. I don't think you'll have any regrets.

Now I'll stare at the clock some more and count the minutes until I can get back home and play on that guitar some more.

Blain,

Lovely guitar for a first. You should have a big smile permanently on your face.
