It's great to finally get the chance to sponsor the forum. I've been working 'in the shadows' for too long!

If it's not clear from the website, the products listed and options are just sample items. I end up doing all sorts of stuff here from aerospace prototypes to jewellery pieces to pay the bills, so there aren't too many things in lutherie that are too far out there. Drop an e-mail or give me a call if you've got something special in mind.

Let me know about anything you'd like available as singles, and if there are enough people interested then I can make those items in batches and sell individually. The major cost in CNC work is setups so the more pieces I can make at once, the better I can make the prices for you guys!

There's a can of worms. I agree that John does great work, but I doubt he's thrilled I'm sponsoring the forum. He's the reason I couldn't sponsor the forum months ago when I first tried.

The deal back then's a bit of a sore spot for me. I like you, John, and we've spoken a few times and I've learned some handy stuff from you. I tried to call you a few days back just to see how things were going.

That being said, it didn't help my business being blocked from advertising here for months by an agreement you were party to whether it was your idea or not. Business is business, but I don't want the perception that I -chose- not to support the forum as a black mark on my business.

Not to get caught up in this, but it's more sad when we become a people
who punish others for having dirty laundry. It seems like John is focusing
on production and willing to take on small custom work, and that Bob is
focusing on a lot of small custom work and willing to take on production.

My apologies to everyone for this mess. While I do feel I was unfairly slighted, I shouldn't have lost my head over it.

I shouldn't have directed any ill-seemings toward John. It was a business deal between his business and the forum I have issues with, rather than the people involved. I apologize directly to you, John, for not choosing my words more carefully to show that difference. Your kid picked on my kid, so to speak.

I got what I had to say off my chest, though my feelings about the situation made the presentation less than tactful, so I won't speak of this in public again.

Hey Bob,

Welcome to the forum. This community is indeed lucky to have the talents of both you and John available to them. I have availed myself of the services of both of you and have no regrets at all about either of your services and have found you both great guys to deal with. I know you will be doing great things and I also know that John continues to do great work as well (one of my good friends uses his necks in the kits he continues to buy/build!)

Bob, you do realize that you're using a thread started for your benefit by the management of a forum you sponsor to spout on the poor handling of sponsorships by the management of said forum, right?
Yeah, mark that down as one of the things you shouldn't have said on a public forum.

Jee wiz, I didn't expect this.
Bob, we are happy to have you as a sponsor, and we were happy to have John.
You guys both provide a service that many of us want and need.
That said, John was simply committed to a higher level of sponsorship (read Visibility) with that came certain benefits. John was not and is not the only sponsor that is at such a level of commitment.

Brock and I try our best to protect the sponsors that help keep this ball rolling. You will no doubt see that in the months to come from the other side, the side that needs protecting.

I hope this all makes sense.

I know that you know this, but its important to say it again.

The membership of the OLF makes up its "culture" good bad and otherwise. We all have made life long friends here and have learned lots. I know I have.

The "Sponsors" keep this place alive. Past and present, they provide our membership with valuable products that we all need. They are usually experts in there field, and for the most part tend to share freely with what they know. I could go on and on but I will leave it at that.

As much as I love this place, and the people here, if not for our sponsors we would not exist.
So I thank them for keeping us going, and for making it possible plan for the future.

Both John Watkins and Bob Garrish are great guys that offer great products and expertize.... Bob already apologized for the "foot insertion" part so lets move on to building guitars and not make this thread "another" one of those "threads"....

We are all good people with good intentions but even good peopple with good intentions say things they wish they hadn't. At least Bob realized that and apologized.

I am not sure how it relates to this thread... but the LS has morphed into a new direction. Lance and I are working on a project that will give the LS a very good foundation... but clearly this thing is very very far off the rails. All I can say is that when it finally happens it will be really cool.

We want to get the new OLF site up first, and then we will tackle that project.
