Here are some photos of two guitars I have just finished. I really need to thank all the fine people on this forum who have shared so much - without you I would be building lousy guitars instead of mediocre ones!

Personally I love the look of Mahogany - so much I even made a rosette out of some. These two are Khaya, necks and bodies with Ebony appointments. The dread also has a sitka top, mahogany rosette, and ebony bridge. The OM has a Coco rosette, redwood top and BRW bridge. Thanks for looking.

Yes, very sweet indeed David...Hey, seems all you need to do to build great guitars is be called Dave White, that's it, I'm off to the registry office, we should have 3 Dave Whites here by neck week when the papers come through

Cheers

Kim

I don't see anything mediocre about those...beautiful instruments. And I too plan on changing my name to Dave White. From Bill Greene to Dave White...not that big of a change really.

Nice work. Congrats, and thanks for the photos.

These are the first guitars where I have had a bandsaw and did the resawing myself. One advantage to that is being able to cut the back, sides, neck and rosette from the same piece which I think helps tie everything together visually. This does of course lead to more waste, but Khaya is inexpensive enough to allow for that.

That mahogany does have a way of glowing in the sunlight. Marvelous work.

Nice! That's the first square heel I've seen around here.

I'm thinking of changing my name to Jeff Traugott

David - lovely guitars and lovely wood. The Khaya looks great.

How do they sound?

How do they sound?

Both pretty good and complete opposites of each other. The Dread is a well rounded, nice strummer with lots of overtones. The OM is a very focused sound with a tight bass, good for fingerstyle.

Personally, I think guitars that sound good for fingerstyle are too harsh when strummed, and good strumming guitars are too muddy when played with the fingers. I don't know if that's a common thought or not.

I love the way the ribbon grain dances in the light.
Really pretty.
