Well you have been noticeably absent around here. Now I know why Great looking guitar. I've heard a lot of good things about the 13 fret design but have never had the chance to play one. I agree that the bridge placement does make the guitar look more balanced.

Beautifull guitar Sylvan! I think that concept is a winner. Now I have to build one. Isn't imitation the sincerest form of flattery?

Beautiful guitar Sylvan. Out of curiosity, what tool do you use to cut your headstock and fingerboard for bindings? They look very clean and crisp with nice miters.

Thanks for the compliment. To answer your questions, if you mean the
channels, they are cut with a laminate trimmer and a flush trim bit. If you
mean the actual miters, etc., I usually cut them partway with a thin kerf
fret saw and then finish them off with a very sharp chisel. I hope this
answers the question!

Sweet looking fingerstyle...has to sound great.

Also as a marketing point you have an answer for the person that cant decide between a 12 fret or 14 fret neck

Sylvan, I like absolutely everything about this guitar. The white binding against the rosewood gives the whole thing a somewhat formal, classy look, like the white sidewalls on a '37 Packard roadster.

Sylvan what a great looking guitar. I have been thinking of the 13 fret and like the balance. Again outstanding work. would love to hear it

Stan, did you know, you can sit down in front of your computer with a ten dollar microphone. The one that comes with many computers. Take your guitar and hit the record button on Sound Recorder and lay down a pretty good acoustic recording? Well, you can. Then you can save it in a file. Later when you have a bunch of licks laid down, you can burn it all on a CD, no joke.

Sound Recorder comes in Windows Operating Systems, if it's not in your Accessories directory, then pop your Windows CD's in and select it under Multimedia and load it up. Many but not all have it loaded by default. Try it.

Bruce I have to learn to play first. I am probably the only one here who can't play a note. Well maybe I can do a note since each pluck of the strings is a note. But can't play a song except when jonny comes marching home all on the high e and b. Going to take lessons

Great work sylvan...

I too just finished up a 13th fret model... and I really liked the way it turned out, so much so that I just started another one. I did base it on part on the early gibson's too and even called it L-00. I didn't go as deep like the nick lucas models and I didn't follow the bracing scheme that (I think) gibson was using, also my bridge has a little larger footprint, but I really did like the sound nonetheless.

As not to hijack the thread, I will post some shots another day.

Hi Sylvan,
Very lovely guitar! There's something special and timeless about that traditional Nick Lucas Gibson shape. I think it's very cool. And I especially like the small and subtle fingerboard inlays. That's "understated elegance"! Of course the flawless execution doesn't hurt either.

PS, I have used the Grover tuners too & think they're very fine indeed.
