My guess is that a tibia from a front leg would have the greatest stress and therefore more cortical (hard) bone as opposed to cancellous(spongy) bone.

The resident expert on this will have to be Terken since he's probably machined a few hips and knees as an orthopaedic surgeon. What say you, Doc?

OK, Femur it is and I stand corrected. Thanks for the picture too. My son is in his last year of nursing school and he thought it was a tibia. I am going to have to set him straight now ;)

No doubt an evolutionary development which resulted from the need to be continually standing on ones toes. I suspect the same fate awaits those future generations whose ancestors where short and spent too much time at the footy. Now be the time for the shrewd investor to sell those shares in Nike.
