OK, so I've been away for a little while, checking in periodically and I know that the book should be in Arnt the Viking's hands by know.

So Arnt, you have the BBQ smalahove yet? Remember we wnat some pictures of that book and the goat's head.

Just keeping the dream alive

And no one is off the list either, when Sam is done with it, she will be sending it on to Serge the Bear (first stop back in Canada) for his grubby paws to have a read through.

The book is in the mail (really!) even as I type. It should be somewhere over the North Sea on it's way to the British Isles by now.

Rod, sorry I think I forgot to take pictures...

OK, so the update from the main forum page.

Martin got the book on Sept 11 read it and sent it to Sam who got it today, Sept 14 (or is it the 15th there today).

She will read it in a day and have it in the post tomorrow So Serge can get it by Wednesday next week

Just kidding Sam, you do what ever is comfortable to you. Have fun, and don't forget to write your thoughts in the book.

Don't worry Kim, when it hits the homeland, it's going to slow down to a snails pace I'm sure. I'll have to keep the fire under the ___'_ of those who have it.

this is so cool. I can't wait to get it back and to take some pictures of it to post. In about 1-2 years I suspect.

I ordered it from my local library and read it already, amazing book.... however,
I was a little put off by the seeming ingratitude (or perhaps expectation, or feeling of entitlement?)by the Clapton camp... seeing as someone spent a big chunk of thier life building it and then flew it across the Atlantic.. and they just leave the author sitting in a hotel for days before picking it up... and then refuse a simple photo of the tech holding the guitar.
I dunno but it seems as though Clapton didnt say boo about it either. no thank you?
Anyway I certainly enjoyed reading about the building of the instruments,,,
cheers

It's going to take over a week to ship airmail from the UK...

The book? Well, I like Wayne Henderson's attitude and outlook. Clapton seemed to me as a distant deity just wanting to add another instrument to his collection. Oh the multifarious levels of American life!!!

Wanna say lots more but don't want to ruin the plot...

What I forgot to add is that this book would be fantastic as a film in the style of "Brother, Where Art Thou?" (Cohen Brothers)...but I forget that luthiers and guitar builders alike are in the minority and wouldn't generate much interest at the box office...

You have to remember, that the name or figure of Clapton really just helped the author that's all. Clapton heard a Henderson guitar and wanted one. The author thought took it on himself to get it done and is now making a nice little profit from both Wayne and Clapton. He's proved himself to be a great marketer that's for sure.

This book has very little to do with Clapton, and why would we expect anything other than what was (or was not) offered by the Clapton camp. To them, it's just an other guitar to add to his massive collection.

Anyway, I've come to appreciate Wayne Henderson and who he is through the book, but not to many people would have bought a book called Wayne Henderson builds a couple of guitars or what have you.

The book is about the journey, not the destination.

Cheers

I was surprised the book was remarkable clean when I read it- slightly yellowed, but what do you expect after thousands of miles travel?

That's why I hurriedly read it and sent it on- three young kids and copious amounts of fresh Java and Columbian coffee and you've got a high-risk situation of putting a blemish on those pages...

The trouble is, I could never find that fried egg my youngest kid dropped t'other day...
Sam now that is a good idea to populate the pages of the book with the cuisine of the world
Shame there are no French Luthiers here, it would be nice to have a page dedicated to some Vieux Boulogne...

Well, Serge has the book and is planing on hooking up with Alain within the next week or so.

Than it's onto the States, I think JJ is next, or maybe it's BobC, can't really remember though.

OK, I just looked, Tom Dowey is next after Alain, than The Zootman
