USE CAUTION DEALING WITH ALASKA TONEWOOD!!! I don't know if
anybody in this forum has dealt with John or Sandy at ALASKA
TONEWOOD lately and if you have please let me know the results. This is
the second and last time I will deal with them. They were slow on the first
shipment last year but that only took a month and they communicated
with me. On 7-17-07 after a very positive description of wood he would
ship I sent ALASKA TONEWOOD an order for 2 bolts (enough for 10
archtop sets). Since that time I haved called and or emailed John of
ALASKA TONEWOOD no less than 12 times.   The last and nearly only 3
emails he sent he said the wood was mailed weeks ago and in one email
that it was (and these are his words) "word removed by admin" for me to expect him to
be responsible for the wood getting to me. Let me know if any of you
have had a problem because I am going to register a complaint of
internet fraud with the on the FBI internet fraud site soon.
BEWARE OF ALASKA TONEWOOD!!!

You need to be realistc with wood dealers. Even though I do not order from Alaska tonewoods anymore, when I used to in the past my dealings were nothing but pleasant, and Brad (?) was a nice guy.

Most lumber dudes spend their time in the pursuit of quality lumber or resawing it, so if you want them to go the extra mile for you, let them take their time getting your order right.

Of course, it sounds to me like this case is just a shipping delay which happens all the time, and is the buyers responsibility if not insured etc. The seller is only liable if poorly packaged, or incorret adress.

John,

I have never dealt with Alsakatonewoods but after reading THIS thread from way back, they do seem to have some issues with the post office and big billets of spruce out that way.

Could be that your billet is just the right size for holding the big old PO door open to let a little fresh air in on those gentle days What ever, I realy think you need to find out what DID actually happen to your order before you open fire and this is not the place to start finding out.

Whilst from what you say it does look as if this guy may not be interpreting the true meaning of good customer relations overly well, I also hear that he cuts good spruce and that is because it's probably all he does to pay the bills.

I think that you need to remember that your messing with someones livelihood here. If what ever happened to your order turns out to be beyond this guys control, you would have done him a great disservice, and, you will come off looking a little shabby yourself.

Cheers

Kim

Been down this road before. I am closing this thread.
