I have used z-poxy on the sides and back, but not on the top. The Milburn Tutorial has a seal step, then grain filling, then Body Session. For the Back and sides do I go directly to the Body session. The other questions is where do I start on the top? Do I start at the seal step and then go right to the body session? So My questions are as follows;

What step do I start on for the back & Sides

What step do I start on for the top and do I skip the grain filler step or go directly to the body session.

The Milburn tutorial uses the pumice fill method which requires a coat of shellac prior to filling in order to entrap the fibers the pumice pulls into the pores.

back and sides:
prior to starting the boding process with 2# cut of shellac, seal the zpoxy fill with 1# cut of shellac. allow to cure 2 hours is best.

Top:
Seldom unless a hardwood is used as top wood will you ever fill a top. Seal the top with a 1# cut of shellac allow to cure 2 hours prior to starting boding process with 2# cut of shellac

This seal process gives a base that the first boding session can amalgamate into.

Keep in mind as you do the boding process you are not applying coats to the surface you amalgamating new shellac into previously applied shellac.

I highly suggest you spirit off after every session after the first. this will aid you in building a level film as you go and avoid the need to level sand if done right. It also builds a harder film in my opinion.

I am glad to see this explanation.  I was wondering the same thing, but have not gotten that far yet, so didn't want to ask until I was closer.  I couldn't find anything specific about the top process.  I will probably use pumice, but it still didn't answer the top question.

Do not fill soft wood tops.... seal with 1# shellac allow 2 hour cure and start boding.

I didn't mean you didn't answer it, I meant that I knew the body would need filling either way, but even though I was going to use pumice on the B&S, I still didn't know what to do with the top, until you answered it, that is.  But, thanks for making it clear, and clear, and clear!
