Rules are:

(1) You have to guess the species of each board in order and no partial guesses - you must guess the species of all 5 boards in each of your posts.

(2) I need either the binomial name or common name for each board (ex. dalbergia nigra or brazilian rosewood)

(3) Multiple posts are allowed and encouraged. Anyone can guess and win - even wood vendors and administrators.

Winner gets Hesh's entire stash of tonewood. (the winner gets a choice of one of a few goodies - cocobolo or braz bridge blank, chunk of african blackwood, ect. I'll take pics for the winner and let him/her decide their prize)

BOARD ONE

BOARD TWO

BOARD THREE

BOARD FOUR

BOARD FIVE

1. Brazilian Rosewood
2. Cocobolo
3. Honduran Rosewood
4. Panama Rosewood
5. African Mahogany (Khaya)

In truth, #1 could be Madagascar Rosewood, and #2 I'm fairly clueless on, although the color suggests cocobolo.

Don-

You got 2 of them right and you are close on the other 3. Your not going to believe what #4 really is.

I'm glad you answered that way without giving away which were correct!

#4 Looks a lot like some Nicaraguan Cocobolo that I have, but I'm guessing it's no going to be that easy, eh?

You have some really nice looking woods there, whatever they are!

Thanks Don. Keep guessing.

Mike-
those are the natural colors of dry wood - no naptha or anything. The camera captured the colors very closely.

Bob-
you got one.

Nobody got it yet. Here is a hint - some of these boards are the same species. I'm not telling which ones though. More hints soon.
