Dick Boak mentioned during my panel discussion that Martin had abandoned Corian because of its being brittle. Fine for nuts, but they found that it tended to chip when used as saddle material.

Guys, here's THE cheap place to buy Corian:

http://www.coriansamples.com/StoreFront.bok

AND, you even get to choose your colors. Click on one of the colors and a page with the prices comes up. A 2"x2" piece is $1.00. 4x4 is $2.00. The 4x4 piece is obviously the better deal -- it isn't twice as much material, it's four times as much ('swhat happens when you start squaring things).

Dunno how thick it is, but you can always cut it on edge.

Corian cuts like a dream on my bandsaw.

Best,

Michael

I spoke with the guys from Martin and they told me they abandoned Corian because the quality has changed. They said the new stuff is much softer and doesn't transfer sound as well and chips and wears faster. They now are moving to TUSQ
