I like the percentage over $500 thing idea better, but anyway it goes I'd be
in for a virtual table.

I also think the percentage scheme is better.

Count me in for a table.
I like the $500 limit, and 3% over $500, sponsors free tables ... keeps it simple.

If I could throw out an additional idea.

I would suggest that this is based on sales, not postings. Since all sales are over the table (on the thread), everything is out in the open. Folks can simply be on the honor system to settle up with OLF on whatever the transaction is, within 5 days of auction close. Simply, you should receive one payment per thread (unless the seller sold nothing). Idea here is to keep the work low on you guys. We're each responsible for figuring out what we owe and paying you within 5 days. We can even post the tally of sales on our own threads when it is done.

Oh ... and, I'll take a table.
I agree, regardless of what way we do it, it will be based on sales (not postings) and we will settle up at the end of the event.

Good suggestions though.

One thing about basing the rules on dollar of sales, this is confusing for anyone trying to swap rather than sell. This is a swap meet right?

Ok.

I think the dollar volume idea is going to work. I think on the barters we are just going to have to approximate the value. Again, I confess that this is an imperfect system.

Here is another thought.

I created a new discussion area for this yesterday. My plan is to go in and mark all sellers as "advertisers" and give you access to it now. That way you can start building your threads.

This will also give you access to the Advertisers discussion forum where we can also discuss some of the mechanics involved with the sale, which may be useful as well.

Is anybody ready to start posting now?

The general public will be allowed in on Monday, but by doing this ahead of time we will have product ready to go as soon as the doors are opened on Monday.

Oh, and to clarify on the money.

$0 - $500 in sales is free
$500 - $1000 = 7%
$1000+ = 4%

This is a tiered system. So if you sold $3000 of stuff it would cost:

First $500 = $0
Next $500 = $35
Next $2000 = $80

Total = $115

I think these numbers help accomplish our goals and still make it very reasonable for everyone to participate.

Could one of the sellers on the list please confirm for me that you can

1) See a new discussion called Swap Meet in the main list of discussions

2) You now have access to the Advertisers discussion area.

Everyone who has asked to be a seller has been marked as a sponsor (for the duration of the sale) and you can now get into the Swap Meet area to start setting up shop.

Please confirm (in this thread) that at least one of you can get in.

Thanks.

I like it.

At first, I wasn't paying attention to the tiered structure, and at first glance figured $600 in sales would cost $42, so I thought the 7% was too high. But, the way you have it structured would cost $7 for the seller selling (or trading) $600 worth. Seems to me this will work just fine for smaller sellers, and won't gouge someone with a couple of thousand dollars worth of stuff (like maybe a big tool) to sell.

Thanks, Brock.

Dennis

I got into Advertisers Discussion Area, and it let me try to open a new topic, which I canceled, but I'm sure it would have worked.

I did not see a Swap Meet Discussion listed.

Swap Meet not listed as of about 9:08 CDT. I tried logging out, then in, and refreshing, and closing the OLF and re-entering.

When logged-in, I do see the Advertisers area, but once in there on the lower right it says that I "cannot post new topics..."

It should work now.

I gave everyone permission, but didn't set the group permissions right.

Brock, I'm in for this one and got a couple BRW orphan back sets to dust off.

If the above "post here" to add my name is a link to another area it isn't working for me.
Sorry I was premature........ I see where we are to post now and it works great. You might want to delete my test thread or I can just rename it and use it for my stuff.

When can we populate our threads please?

And - thanks Brock and Lance for this opportunity!
I saw it said delete so I took it out. Thanks for testing it. :-)

You can populate any time you like.

The only thing I ask is if sellers want to chit chat please take that conversation to the advertisers area and not clutter up the swap meet area before Monday. I would like that to start on Monday in a nice tidy fashion.

:-)
Brock,
Might be a good idea not to open the posting area until Monday morning. Otherwise I think you're going to see activity underway prior to Monday, in spite of your desires.

In fact, that already seems to be happening.

Filippo
It is only open to sellers who want to set up their tables early. That takes some of the pressure off for Monday.
QUESTION FOR BROCK (and no I am not yelling, sorry for using capital letters..... )

Does the tiered structure kick in for items "sold" or items listed? For example if one lists $2,500 worth of stuff but only sells $500 what is the fee please?
No only the stuff that is sold counts toward the total.
