Brock,
Might be a good idea not to open the posting area until Monday morning. Otherwise I think you're going to see activity underway prior to Monday, in spite of your desires.

In fact, that already seems to be happening.

Filippo
It is only open to sellers who want to set up their tables early. That takes some of the pressure off for Monday.
QUESTION FOR BROCK (and no I am not yelling, sorry for using capital letters..... )

Does the tiered structure kick in for items "sold" or items listed? For example if one lists $2,500 worth of stuff but only sells $500 what is the fee please?
No only the stuff that is sold counts toward the total.

Brock,
I would like a virtual table. The fee structure sounds very fair, and it is great that you are allowing everyone a chance to get things ready in advance. If it is at all possible to be able to edit, that would really help to keep the postings cleaner(updating what was and was not sold was kinda painful last time).

Thanks,
Rich

Thanks.

Yes, edit abilities will be turned on for sellers. I just updated you (and everyone else who has asked). Feel free to go in and start setting up your thread.

Brock, I will take up a "table" on this one as well, mostly non-Lutz related stuff!

Thanks

Shane

Brock

My first post as a member so bear with me, Maybe it will cost me less if I became a sponsor. A friend fryovanni over at PGF said I should look into your swap meet. But after reading your initial post and all the posts here and it being only 5 days away, there is still a big question mark hanging over my head. Since I didn't see last years Swap Meet (a better description would be online flea market) I have no idea how this will go, so my concerns are these:

It seems like you changed the format to the teired system????

Another idea is just charge every one a set fee for a table at the meet and limit the lots per table but not the quanity per lot, lets say $25 just like a flea market table. Just a thought saves you having to figure out how every member made out in the end and will save you time.

Payment terms must also be flexible I dont see it mentioned on how it will be done, and PayPal makes it easier for anyone who uses the service. I will of course keep my payment methods open for the forum members as some people hate PayPal as much as I hate waiting for a check and going to the bank. This also brings up keeping your personal info private except to buyers??

Also the logistics of selling maybe 100+ lots and making payment arrangements how is it done?

Count me in; But

Your thoughs and clarification on the whole Swap Meet would be appreciated in a comprehensive posting so I know what I will be getting myself into.

This is pretty clearly outlined in this thread. The rationale for the prices is explained and it is pretty clear how it will be calculated. The fees will be based on what has sold, and since all commerce needs to happen in the threads it should be as simple as reading the thread from top to bottom and tabulating the final sales.

(Of course that does require that everyone is honest and keeps business in the threads, but it is cheap enough that I can't think that this will be a problem)

Paypal is fine.

These are pretty loosely run affairs and generally run very smoothly. There are always a few minor hiccups (as I mentioned in my original note), but for the most part they are very easy.

I updated you and you can start building your table any time you like.

I was thinking today that it might be kind of fun to start a Want-to-Buy thread for the swap meet.

Since the general public can't get into that discussion forum yet I will start it here and then I will move it over to the Swap Meet Discussion on Monday.

Please (please please) keep the chit chat out of that thread, just keep it to stuff you are interested in buying and letting the sellers know what you are jonesing for.

Brock, I'm seriously impressed the way you have adjusted and re-fined this "swap meet" into a near business model....It's almost seamless and quite impressive.
