What body style do your or others prefer for 12 string. Is there some kind of consensus?
If not, what do you or others you know think best?
Thanks,

Jumbo. I actually like Taylor's shape.

Until I saw Craig L's 12 string in the other post, I didn't have a favorite body style for one.  I now have an opinion.  That one is the best I have ever seen.  I don't know what the style is, but it is sure nice.

Oooh, Todd, there we go again, agreeing on something. I like those as well. I have a buddy that owns one, and I drool over it everytime I see it. Even asked him to put in his will that I get that guitar upon his demise. Which, by the way, I am NOT planning.

SJ's also look nice in a 12 string format.

Steve

What Todd and Steve said...definitely!!! Would that be slope-shouldered as well?

I bet you know what I'm gonna say,

Thanks Waddy, I find twelves to normally be such hulking things to play . A huge body you have to get over , wide neck , and all those strings etc. My body shape is near Grand Auditorium dimensions , but a bit more curve. It's a comfortable shape to hold yet still has a 16 " lower bout.

I made it a 13 fretter and 24.9 " scale to lesson the leverage on the neck and ease up the string pull a little . This puts the bridge in a favourable spot on the soundboard and makes for more ease in playing . It's 4 5/8 " at the tail , so is still a good size box

I think that's why I liked your design too.  I'm really not a fan of big ol' guitars.  Yours just looks comfortable.

I've only ever built one and I used my OM mould as it was the largest I had (stil is) and I have to say I was very pleased with it. I have toyed with the idea of building a Dave King style parlour 12, they sound beautiful. I think any body shape that you like will work just as well as a 12 string.
