Let's just say that I figured out how to make multiple posts to a Poll... I did it just to have some fun and get an astonished response...I didn't expect that folks would think someone was intentionally rigging the vote. I planned on fessing up last minute, but I think it's time now. We'll just say that roughly 18 of the votes for the dreadnaught were <gulp> mine. Sorry....didn't mean to anger anyone. I repent...

I voted OM in the poll, but I would be quite happy with the SJ as well. In fact I tend to connect the SJ with OLF, probably because this is where I got the plans.

I voted OM (once!), and will stick with it.

I voted Dreadnaught. Several times. In fact, I was rather hoping you folks would view the sudden rise in the Dread vote and take to heart that most of the guitars produced and bought today are dreadnaughts. Martin's production is over 80% dreadnaughts. Why? Not because they are cheapest to make, but because they have the widest appeal to the masses. If we build a guitar to benefit a charity, we should consider what will have the greatest appeal to those who will be sitting at an auction. That, my friends would be a Dreadnaught. I'll stop my rant now, and let this die here. But I'll just say one more time that while I think it's wonderful that we're doing something for charity, it would be even more wonderful if we would maximize their gain by more selfless thinking on our part. Get pissed off at me if you want, but that's how I feel. Let's ask their auction professionals what would get the best response from a typical auction, and then decide what to build. I've worked for charities for the last 10 years, I've seen fundraising auctions left and right, and trust me, they would like some input if given the chance.
Done.
Don

well other than Don's wild voting spree I/we have no reason to believe
that the other votes are not valid, as they chugged along pretty nicely.
and evenly till the SJ pulled away at the end a little. So If everyone agrees
that the initial vote was fair (again with the exception of the dread loving
Don) we will go with an SJ. We have a couple more things to decide, but if
you have any last words about body shape speak them now...we all are
listening.

John, you need to subtract one from the SJ as the system allowed me to vote twice (once from home and once from work). Anyone else need to fess up?

Well aside from the internet ballot stuffing as I will from hence forth call
"Pulling a Don". The SJ seems to have won. So we will be building an SJ.
Thanks for everyones vote. I'm sure no matter what we build it will raise
a good amount of money that will be put to great use.

On a related Note Bob C has generously donated a set of pomelle African
Mahogany (beautiful!) and bloodwood bindings.

We still need to figure out some more details that I will put to a vote here
so we all can decide.

Look for more poll's soon and be sure to speak up so your vote can be
counted. And no Pulling a Don!

Welcome to the forum GD. I just looked up your profile and saw you're in Newberg. I've got family in Dundee and St. Paul and have driven past your shop many times when I go back there for visits. What kind of instruments do you build?

Hi Roy,
Thanks for the welcome. Stop by the store next time you're in the area. I'm only there on Tuesdays & Fridays (some Sat.)
I build bouzoukis & octave mandolins both acoustic & solid body electric. Guitars - steel string flattops, archtops & electrics.
I've built dulcimers, banjos & fiddles in the past but don't do them much anymore.

Click on my name in the " About Us" tab on the store's website to see some of the instruments I've made.

GD

GD,

I don't think I'll be in Oregon this year but when I do make it back I'll be sure to stop by.

BTW, those are some nice looking instruments you've built there.

Roy
