I'm thinking of getting a bunch of Adi brace wood from Old Standard and am looking for comments from those who have used there Adi brace wood.  Which of the three grades did you buy?  Would you get the same grade next time or up the grade?

i have never used it but i have heard good things.

they are a reputable company so i am sure there bracewood will be first
class.

I haven't used their bracing, but I did call to order wood for an archtop mandolin. John asked what I was looking for (nice but not the best) and he said that he would pick a good set. I'm very pleased with the wood and the price. Nicely flamed red maple and even colored straight grain spruce.

If milled edges are important to you, I'd buy the $5-10/lb bracing.

Personally, I would call and ask for something at the high end of the medium priced bracing or the low end of the high priced bracing.

I have used it on all of my guitars, and it is great wood.  I usually get the stuff like Greg mentioned.  Usually the wood has little runout, and carves well.  The mid to higher grade also seems to have less waste.  I forget how much I usually get per top, but I usually ask them to send me "enough" to brace the amount of tops I get, and usually I have a little left over, even when cutting it on the table saw.  Friendly folks, too.

I've been trying to figure out what I need per guitar.  I've never bought it by the pound, only in 1"x2" size.  I think its about 1.5-2 lbs per top and back, but I guess just I'll ask.  It dosnt really matter as I'll probably get a big ol pile and have to for a bunch of guitars.  Then just order more when I get low.

That sound about right.  I think I ordered 3 tops and they sent 5 lbs of bracewood the last time I ordered.

Been there and have used a bunch.

As has been said. If you go the cheapest route you'll have waste and in a 5/16ths inch brace only 2 to 4 grainlines.

It seems expensive in any grade, but the care that goes into making it for us is incredible. Can't go wrong, John really knows his stuff.

After Mayes Photoessay, I want to go back!

Really nice wood, I have been using it for a while now. John and Shari are super friendly and knowlegable...one of the best suppliers anywhere.
