A thunder boomer came over night before last. I took a direct lighning hit to the shop and house. It fried every breaker in the both main boxes. Cracked them in half. I am still checking tools and appliances. So far I have lost a microwave and my bench top drill drill press (I was using it at the time. God bless GFS breakers). It scared the beegeevers out of me. I spent most of the evening installing a new breaker box, breakers and checking out the existing wiring. TXU (Texas Electric Utilities) had to replace the meter, lead-in wiring and a near by transformer. I got power back up at about 10:00pm last night. I'm back to better living thru electricty now. After 24 hrs with out it you sure learn to appreciate it.

Michael,

Glad you are safe! Does homeowners insurance cover the cost of fixing the electrical, and replacing the tools?

Jeff

So that's where that bad boy hit the other night...thought I saw it from the house. Glad you're okay, Michael.

John you live here in Odessa? I'm fine. It was over so quick. I thought the gas line had exploded, the first instant but I figured it out as the lights went out. The clap was sooo loouud. Had a small fire on the roof but It went out on it's own. Not a sigle drop of rain in that storm, at my house any-way, just thunder and lighting.

Glad you're ok Michael. We have a lot of thunderstorms here and I have seen what the power of that lightening can do.

Michael,

Yepper, I do live in Odessa. Out by the stadium. Great light show here, too. But as there, not one drop of rain...

Still glad you're okay...
