Comcast is EVIL! I run mailing lists which are by paid subscription (we're not spamming). Comcast is geared to take people's money, not solve blacklist algorithm issues. After 3 months of regular channel attempts to solve problems, I had to get execs from one company I know to call execs at Comcast to address the issue. Amazing. Best of luck Lance ...

Filippo
I hear you about comcast. I was using high bandwidth not sure the amount because i was running a game server for personal use between me and some friends around the country. They sent me a memo saying i was exceeding the limit. I pointed out there is no limit as described on your site. You sell your product as unlimited internet access and the TOS states no limit. They told me well there is one and I asked what the limit is and was told they can't tell me it. I wanted to know so i could regulate my self and try to stay under it. No deal. they wanted me to upgrade to a business account or they were going to suspend my account. Business account would be 600 hundred a month. i told them by-by and headed to verizon. They had no problem with my bandwidth use.

Ahhh! That's better. We Lances need to stick together with a name like we have.

LanceK,

Regarding current private messages not being transfered, I can cut and paste messages that I want to save, but it's tedious.

Will the newer software allow PM's to be forwarded to other(external) email addresses?

I am looking forward to the new version.
Thanks,

Greg,
Not sure about emailing them to your self, but there is an option to export your entire PM folder into a .csv file.

Lance, can we assume that the new forum software will be somewhat dial-up friendly in regards to the size of the pages it generates? Just curious.

Thanks for that! There's still a lot of us who don't have access to broadband yet.

Not to be pushy or sound unappreciative but is there any chance of
subsections for electrics and repairs? That could be pretty cool.

The lack of hundreds of separate sections is, in some ways, to me, the best thing about this forum.  Forums with all those sub-topics are very hard to navigate, and keep up with what you have seen and have not seen.  Here you go to the Main Discussion, and you can check everything out you haven't seen.  I don't do much work on electrics now, but have worked on them in the past, with my son, swapping out pickups, refinishing, etc., so I like to read about it.  It seems that here, at OLF, there is a lot of crossover of interests, and putting them under one discussion area works, and builds more camaraderie among the troops, usually .

And this in spite of the fact that Comcast's own generic IP address
pool is one of the largest generators of spam on the 'net (this from my
email and hosting provider, who informed me that he would gladly turn
off that portion of the blacklist if I *really* wanted a few hundred
spam per *hour* . . .)

Again, best of luck, Lance!

I believe the login issue is that you may be accessing from different computers.  I have two computers at home and one at work that I sign in from.  Anytime I sign in from a different computer, it kicks me out of automatically loging in from from tha last computer I signed in with.  If I keep using tha same one, it will not make me login in again.  Its kind of annoying.

They're still moving a couple things.

I am not sure how much they are working during the break, but I expect it will be ready to transfer the database any day.
