Well I’m here with another question involving KTM-9. I need some help doing touchups. I burned through the finish while buffing on an instrument I am currently finishing. I touched it up, let it dry and proceeded to sand and buff again. To my annoyance

I burned through around the area I just touched up. Now I have a bigger mess than I had before and I am afraid it is going to get worse. One good thing (if there can be a good thing in this kind of situation) is that the instrument is a prototype/personal instrument, so I’m not as concerned as I would be if it had of been a custom job. But this is around the rosette area of the top and is going to be noticeable if I don’t figure out how to fix it.
My touchup routine looks like this
-apply a thinned coat of epoxy (which is my filler)
-apply a few coats of finish
-let dry
-sand level
-buff
I know the key is to not go through the finish in the first place, but if anyone has some suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks
Josh
