If you are allergic to cocobolo, is it only a problem during the build or could it also be a problem after the guitar has been built?

Have you known anyone who sold their cocobolo guitar due to allergic reaction?

The allergy is only to the raw wood and I think then it is only to the cocobolo dust. I had a set that I was going to attempt, and had no issues until I sanded it.
I have never heard of a problem with a finished guitar, only the poor builder.

I love the smell of fresh sawn cocobolo, kind of cinnamon on steriods, really nice.

It will eat your lunch. I recommend extreme caution, like the dust is the Bubonic Plague.

It's beautiful beyond measure though, just love it.

Once the wood is sealed in finish, it's very safe.

Steve, What reaction did you have to the coco?

I love coco fingerboards but always worry a bit about reactions from a player. Never heard of it happening though.

Just tell them to keep the sandpaper away from the fingerboard, and maybe don't encourage them to lick it either.

Joe Coco, when stored on a shelf approx. 12-20 feet from your Delta drum sander AND in a basement is known to cause the owner to go completely insane........  It is NOT pretty either.....

The only known remedy is to pack it up and send it to Heshtone Guitars.......

This holds true for highly figured BRW too.......

 What if I move it closer to the drum sander? Or farther? Will I be ok then? This explains my strange desire to put a red/yellow/green rainbow sunburst on a certain guitar I am finishing at the moment.
