I had to make my simple 1-bit black & white avatar 85px wide in order to get the file size down to 10KB. How come you guys are managing to make 200px by 200px full color avatars in only 10KB? What am I missing?

You're using an uncompressed image, and possibly a GIF instead of a JPEG. Download Irfanview, resize your image to 140px wide (or 200 if you want to be disruptive :P) and 'save as' a jpeg. You can fiddle the compression % left and right to get it as close to 10K as possible (giving better definition) without going over when saving.

Thanks Bob. I was using Corel PhotoPaint which wasn't cooperating. I've got it sorted now! :D

Cheers,
