Hi all,

I buffed out the finish on my bass with menzerna white, There seems to be a cloudy white residue stuck to the finish. I can move it around by rubbing it with my finger but its difficult to get off. How to deal with this?

Many thanks for any advice,

Stefan

I have found that you can minimize the polish left behind by adjusting your buffing technique. Work towards the edges, pushing the polish away as you go... (Does that make any sense???) Also, you might be using too much polish. What kind of buffer are you using?
Naptha should safely remove any residue left on the finish.

No need for naptha, which may dull your gloss by spreading the residue around. Wiping with a clean cotton terry cloth should do it. If that fails, Meguire's #7 or 3M Perfect-it, or any other hand glaze.

Thanks guys!

I'm used a drill with a 7" diameter buffing pad chucked. This clamped in a vice. I'm going to make a proper buffing arbor for the next one.

Stefan, As Howard said, just a good cloth rag and wipe off carefully.
Make sure to let it cool a little after buffing before trying to wipe off the residue.
