I wanted to share some pics of this guitar with all.
The guitar was inspired by the Torres FE08 and FE17 but by no means a copy of either.
The other major influence of course is the aesthetic and tradition of Jose' Romanillos with whom I was priviledged to study with this past summer.

Cal, The finish is French polish.

Doug, I actually really enjoy making the inlays. For the meander (Greek key) the design and dimensions are worked out on graph paper and pieces cut to those dimensions. I used dark chocolate colored Brazilian rosewood with a .3mm white (holly?) veneer.
The rosewood is end grain and the white veneer was glued in such a way as to make the final grain orientation parallel to the surface....this produce a brighter looking and cleaner result under the finish.

I'm sure that by the time you reach 90, your levels of patience increase.

I love doing the detail work, too, but often it feels like it takes as long as building the whole rest of the guitar!

David, that is a gorgeous looking guitar, I can certainly see the FE08 influence about it with the side meander. I'd love to hear a clip of it if that is possible. I've just started working on a cypress guitar so, I'm on the look out to steal ideas!

David - again, beautiful work! An absolute joy to see. I really liked seeing this as well as Colin's classical on here.

I have a question about the inlay on the sides. Are you using the method such as that on the Romanillos course, with the "fall back" type of dome/solera? If so, how did you manage to keep the central rib inlay centered? I've been giving this some consideration and so far am considering a different method when I do an FE08 replica.

Also, did you reinforce the back of the inlayed area on the sides with anything?
