I ordered some wood including two cedar neck blanks, but when I opened the package today I found this. Quite a surprise :) Not exactly usual for a classical, on the other hand it will save me some work...

They are from Rivolta in Italy. I have bought cedar from them before and they sent a longer ...straight piece. Both now and then a big separate block was included for making the heel.

That's a pretty good idea, for those who don't want to use a scarf joint. Pretty quick to slice the blanks out using a jig, too. Smart.

Very nice looking AlexM; those should definitley save some time.

For anyone out there looking for one piece Spanish Cedar necks we are currently very well stocked on some excellent, straight grained, nicley QS 3"x4"x30" billets of Cedro. They are going for $70.00 (without s/h via UPS Ground). A dozen or more will drop the price to $62.00 (also w/o s/h). Due to C.I.T.E.S. restrictions we are unable to send these outside the U.S.

All the Best, Andrew

cedrela is another wood that has hit the sites list.
we are going to find it really hard to get soon and the price is fast aproaching that of mahogany (if you can get it),

i have just stocked up on load of the nicest spanish cedar i have ever seen its nice and straight grained and completely gum and stain free.
i am hoping this will last me for a while before it sells out.
i am selling 38"x3"x1" neck blanks for £17.50 (about $35) if anyone outside the us need some.
becouse of cites restrictions i cannot ship outside the E.U.
i can cut 35mm tick and 4 wide blanks if you need them for volute necks etc but you have to add 20%

we seriously need more neck wood alternatives i am all ears to alternatives folks.

By the way alex those neck blanks look nice graet if you dont want to do a scarf joint.

Last time I priced it, I've got less than $10 worth of Spanish Cedar into each guitar. Thats a v-jointed neck (wasteful compared to a scarf), lining and back braces.
