 Post subject: Martin Banjo?

A customer of mine recently purchased this banjo. It was apparently made by Martin. An employee at Martin said he remembered a banjo that was made as part of R&D in the 1970's, but he thought only one was ever made...

I hoped someone here on the OLF may know something about this instrument.

interesting! this rim has been stamped more than once. Did you notice?

More notifiable as a negative click image to see better

Yeah... I understand there is quite a few of them... like on all the wooden parts. Also, it's stamped with the number "1" in a few places.
