I have the Delta 31-255 thickness sander (18-36"). A few weeks ago I had the paper pull out of the clip on one side. This had not happened in the previous year of using it and now it has happened 3 times in the last 2 hours of use.

The problem is actually kind of serious, for one you ruin the paper, but more importantly it can bunch up and damage the wood - I took a good chunk out of a top this morning.

Has anyone seen and fixed this problem?

Dave this used to happen to me and I complained to Delta, they sent me some new clips. However I believe I have their first generation sander as I purchased it back in 2000.
However I'm not willing to take the risk of that happening again and always spray the drum Scotch 77 covering the rest of the sander with old news paper while spraying. Haven't had any problems since and it's been probably 5 years or so. Changing paper is no problem, I just wipe the drum of with Naptha to clean it during changes.

Hi Dave,
I have the 250 model (older) I had that happen with 36 grit paper, 2 or 3x in a row. I tried it again with a student, and we sweat some bullets, but got through it. The spray adhesive sounds like a good measure to add. Loose 36 grit paper wreaks havoc.

Thanks, maybe I'll try the spray adhesive...and sorry for posting twice, I must have backed up and reloaded somehow.
