Wow Hesh and David,it`s a total bummer that I can`t make it.The little wife has planned a trip to Hawaii this spring, so there went all the money.I`ve really enjoyed my previous trips to A2 and I know everyone will be blown away by David`s incredible knowledge and your spectacular guitars.I also wish I could make it over to John and Todd`s get together. It`s really fun to get to meet everyone and check out guitars. But there is a bright side. You won`t have to listen to me sing.

Does anyone have and will you bring the following:

Digital video camera

Portable recording equipment so we can record some of our performers

A small practice guitar amp, we have some electrics coming and I no longer have an amp

Many thanks!

Hesh--

I can bring either a Roland Micro-Cube or a Genz-Benz Shenandoah Jr. for people to plug into.

Great Mark - many thanks!

Jim it would be good to have a back-up if you don't mind bringing a small amp please.

We still need either a digital video camera and/or a portable recording rig that could just be a computer and a mic and someone who knows how to use it.

Chris bro we could set up web cams at both gatherings and group moon each other......... :D

There are at least a dozen other luthiers in the area that I haven't even tipped off to the gathering. I think we're going to have to start renting a hall. That or break up the MGL in to sub-groups. Huron Valley Luthiers Program perhaps? ;)

Great idea David! If you want to invite more people I can handle more people at my place too.

UPDATE: We now have an amp coming and a video camera as well.

If anyone who expressed interest in this event next Saturday, March 8th, has not received a PM with the addresses and my phone number please let me know?

It should be a great time folks!!!

Well! I suppose we could also get LINT and an assortment of South Texas Luthiers to join in the web cam thing....... Oops, there went the family friendliness factor!

Sounds like a great time in the making! Have fun, but share what you see and hear!

If anyone has a radius jig for shaping the back of braces to a set radius (Luthier Suppiers?) I would like to see how it works. Thanks in advance for bringing it on Sat.

Have directions been sent out? Please include Darin Spayd when you do. I saw his post over at the "Michigan Luthier's Guild Section" and he was asking. Why would he think to post there!? idunno

UPDATE: I spoke with David Collins this afternoon and we are both very excited about this event. The turnout looks to be quite large too.

Food will be served at my place (pizza, soft drinks, coffee, beer, and a home made carrot cake......yeah I cook - so what.... :D ) at about 3:00 PM.

The event starts at David's place, you all should have been PMed with the addresses by now, at 12:00 noon.

I also wanted to bump this thread because I think that David will be adding to it later today.

It should be a great time!!!

Everyone is encouraged to bring anything that you want to talk about or an instrument or two with you.

Also - so we are all coordinated in advance, please learn to play Smoke On The Water in advance of the event........ :D

Wear good insoles because I didn't do the courtesy of hunting down seating and stools for everyone, so it's musical chairs, with the majority of players losing. idunno .

For those who have not been to my shop, you can go to my "website" (I use that term loosely) and get the address and phone number if you get lost. It's the only commercial building in a residential neighborhood, but many folks find it easy to miss. Dead center in the middle of the block between Hiscock and Summit (that should be easy to remember, eh?),

Here's a photo to make it easier. You get to my shop through the door (not seen in the photo) on the left.

There are seven other businesses in the building, so if the parking area is full you can park on the east side of the street.

See you Saturday.

Here it comes again....

"The Winter Storm Watch is now in effect from late Friday night
through Saturday evening.

Snowfall will develop late Friday night and continue through the
day Saturday. Total snowfall accumulations of 6 or more inches is
possible by late Saturday afternoon. Northeasterly winds of 15 to
25 mph may also lead to significant blowing and drifting of snow.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the
latest forecasts."

We seem to have a knack for bringing heavy snow with our meetings.

I only have about a block to walk, but was wondering how other's plans may be effected. I know a few folks like Mark, Darin, JJ, Brock, and others may have a bit of a drive.

Joe and I will be making the treck together. I'll give Hesh a call before we start the 3 hour drive north. The forecast doesn't look good right now but winds shift and weather patterns change. I'll do everything I can to be there.

I suppose if we had more meetings in summer, spring and fall, we would have a better chance of avoiding snow! duh

This is starting to look like a pathology that Michiganders have a knack for scheduling events at the wrong time........ :D

Right now the weather alert is a "watch" as opposed to a "warning" where the warning is a firmer prediction. Why don't we wait until Friday evening and decide then based on the best info available at the time. Another consideration is that some folks are traveling from far enough away that ajacent weather patterns need to be looked at too.

David would you be OK if we make the call tomorrow evening and we can post if the event is a go or not by 7:00 PM? We can discuss this tomorrow in a call too.

I think the weatherman is bluffing, but if everyone gets stuck in Ann Arbor, they're staying at your place, not mine. :D

We'll have to watch the weather - I'm still planning on it, but we'll have to watch the radar and figure out how many want to attend as forecasts develop.

Yeah, that is a 3 hour trek for me. My car is a work horse in the snow (all wheel drive) but I may beg off if we see that much snow.

That is interesting and maybe the weather pattern moved south. Here is the latest here showing no accumulation just possible snow showers.

I'll keep monitoring through this evening.

The forecast here is even milder than you show Hesh, so I'm 99% certain Joe and I will be on the road as scheduled.

Here we are trying to predict a weather pattern less than 24 hours away and are having difficulty getting it right. Yet thare are those who say they know "with absolute certainty" that the earth will burn to a crisp in 10 years unless we buy carbon credits from them! gaah [headinwall]

No...it's not a political statement...it's just my little protest against junk science. beehive

Always follow the money...now that WAS political! :D
