I've built with Bocote only once. And the tap tone and is very reminiscent of Ziricote - and as expected, the resulting guitar was was in the same tonal ballpark as Ziricote.

Here is a photo of the guitar. I purchased this set from LMII.



It also seems to be more stable than Ziricote and like Ziricote, is relatively easy to bend. I definitely recommend it.

I bought 2 billets from a hardwood dealer that resawed them for me. He was conservative and didn't want to resaw too thin, but I was able to get 4 back and side sets at about 0.25-0.33 (I know, could've should've gotten 5 or 6 sets thinner), but all in all costed 190 bucks. So I didn't think that was a bad deal, but I never see anyone building with it, and wanted to see some finished products.

I have a few B&S sets acclimatizing and waiting for the right inspiration.

They were a PITA to resaw, really oily and gummed up the bandsaw...a thickness planer will choke on it. I had much better luck thinning mine by running it through a thickness planer riding on top of a sandpaper-covered flat board.

It IS beautiful wood IMO, I've liked the bonk I've gotten out of my sets so far.
