Geez Jimbo, she looks great. All clean and tight, very neat indeed. Only advice I can offer is that you should GIVE THAT LUVELY LITTLE SUCKER TO MEEEEE!!!

Cheers

Kim

Lovely work Jim.

Very clean and uncluttered that give it a very elegant feel.

Jim, if that was my first build I'd be one extremely proud man.

Jim, it looks great [clap] , but more importantly, how does it sound?

What are you planning on building next?

Thanks again guys - really touching to hear - especially form people who know what they're talking about.

I bet everyone says this but it sounds amazing - I'm so pleased because it justifies all the effort - only ever had a cheap factory mandolin before and this one is so much louder (even with much shallower body) - more resonant and toneful. The design is hardly subtle but it seems even a simple design can sound great. - not to go overboard as I'm sure there's room for improvement.

Next build is 12 fret 000 - the back is not attached in this photo, if you're wondering why there's a shadow under the end blocks!

Great looking mandolin, and a good start on the 000. I'd be happy with the way your first turned out. Congratulations. [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap]

Jim, I really like the dark binding on the dark body.
We just finished a guitar with that combo, also set apart with light purfling, and it's hard to beat. Are you going to do your OOO the same way?
Oh, and perhaps a few back braces are in order? :D

Steve

Thanks Steve - Lucky you mentioned the back braces - nearly forgot! ;)

Yeah - the plan for the 000 is similar - to be honest, though I'm new to the luthier game I'm pretty set in my mind how I like instruments to look - it's just getting the damned things to look how I want that's the problem!!! Always liked dark binding - and if you get laminated type it's like you get that extra purfling on the sides for no extra work... shhhhh don't tell anyone!!!

Do you have a link for your work - love to see it, and no doubt get incredibly jealous!
