Hi Guys and Gals-

I emailed Stewmac yesterday - it showed the Waverly peghead bushing reamer for guitars discontinued. I asked if they were planning on making another batch for sale because people in this forum (and maybe others) were wanting them. I got a response that they were not discontinued and would have some for sale in a month. If you go to http://www.stewmac.com/cgi-bin/hazel.cgi?action=SERVE&G=1&INV=&sent=&sku=3817&ITEM=catalog/sku.html you can enter your email and Stewmac will let you know when they are available again.

It seems enough folks bugged them and they listened. Good for Stewmac. :)

You do have another option. You can buy a piloted counterbore from MSC or any other supplier.
They work great. You just order the bore with the diameter for drilling the bushing and the screw on tip 1/4 inch pilot. It does the exact same thing as the stewmac version.

This weblink is for the counterbore. Just add the 1/4 inch tip to it

Here is the pilot to go with it to match the shank that gives you the 1/4 pilot

Your links don't work....

At any rate, the StewMac one is special(IMHO) because of -how- it cuts. I cut after finishing, and have never had even a hint of tearout. It's also sized perfectly; does the MSC one come in fraction dimensions?

I'm not surprised they placed it back after a few inquiries; StewMac is very responsive to out input! Great folks.

I found the same thing when I was trying to order one. They sent me back an email
saying they are discontinued ,but they will be having a replacement made for a lower price ($15.95) . I would rather have the Waverly myself......

Here's the email:
Dave:

Thank you for contacting us.

We have discontinued that reamer but will have a replacement soon for less money ($15.95) that works just as well. We expect to have it in stock around the 20th of May and the part number is #2062. While the press is a convenient tool the proper size hole for bushings is still critical. Along with the replacement for the Waverly reamer we will have others with different sizes for other bushing sizes.

Please contact me if I can be of further assistance.
*(I Hope they changed their mind and keep selling the Waverly!)

Umm, it was never labeled as a "Waverly" brand reamer. Besides, StewMac -is- Waverly. I suspect the new ones will be fine....

More like decades ago, methinks.
