I've been thinking about replacing my 12" Craftsman (1hp) bandsaw with a bit more capacity/power. I'm thinking of getting this and upgrading the motor:

How difficult is it to change a motor out on one of these?
Is this a decent deal for someone who wants to do limited resawing and neck blanks?

Thanks for the reply; I was hoping you'd chime in on this and offer your thoughts on how good of a deal this was for the price relative to the Rikon. I think I'll just hold out and do it right with a new Rikon.

I noticed Woodcraft just raised the price of the 14" Rikon by about $100. I have an old 12" craftsman, and want to replace eventually, and have been eyeing the Rikon as well.

I think it is a great buy. I did a fair amount of resawing ( spruce, cedar and mahogany)with my Delta and stock 1 hp motor. Not speedy but did the job. Woodslicer blade is a definite plus. You could upgrade to more power later if you needed to, and if you keep your eyes open used motors are not that uncommon. It is an easy swap.
The nice thing about Delta is that parts are easy to get. You also have the advantage of checking it out before you buy it.

It probably is not going to stick around long at that price........
