We are thinking about investing in a "Mobile" version of the OLF that would only be available via a mobile device.
i.e. cell phone/blackberry etc
If we did this, who would use it? I'm thinking more along the lines of "reading" more so than posting. As drafting a note can be hard on a cell.

Thoughts?

Only speaking for myself, I would not. When I go out of town, I take my laptop with me, and can always get on at any motel, hotel, or hot spot. In between, I'll just have to do without. It would probably promote unsafe driving! wow7-eyes "Sorry, Sir, I was just checking the posts on OLF when I hit you from behind."

I'd use it. Never know when you need a "fix"

I wouldn't use it. I have hard enough time on the computer, much less a telephone. I have all the stuff on my phone and have no idea of how to use most of it. I can't even figure out bluestem or whatever it is called to download sounds and junk. If coming here, will use the laptop where ever I am. I take my phone only to the trout stream or golf course and don't mess with anything else while there.

I would use it. I'm heading a hotbed for WiFi (Ann Arbor), and I would use my iTouch to look at the OLF when I'm on my way to class.

Has anyone tried using the current iPhone to read the site?

I currently read and surf the OLF via mobile device. But having it properly formatted would be a dream.

I would not use it, I would rather see the bugs worked out of the current "online" OLF if there is a surplus on revenue or time to spare. Maybe it's just me? idunno

A wireless version might be as profitable and popular as the Luthier's Auction site!

I would not use it. No cell phone, no Blackberry, no anything else digital (except my camera)

I have finally sucumb to getting a blackberry and purposefully did not sign on for the web browsing feature to ensure I wouldn't if things like this became available. Just one more addiction I am trying to nip in the bud :D

I wouldn't use it. If I go away, I have my laptop with me - otherwise trying to escape all of those things

The iTouch acts the same way that an iPhone's internet does (I have used an iTouch to access the site before). It shows the whole site from a far away distance so that it will all fit on the screen. You then have to zoom in to read any text or click on any links. It can be alright, except when you are reading a thread, when it becomes a pain to constantly having to be scrolling while you are reading.

I would assume that a mobile OLF would automatically format to the size of mobile phone screens so it is easier to read and to access.

I would use it also. It would be a welcome diversion on my daily train commute into the city.

Yep! I often sit on the throne at work and browse the OLF on my iPhone. :D
However, at work I'm on a WLAN, so it's plenty fast enough.

I vote YES for a mobile version. That would be fantastic for when I can't get on a WLAN and have to rely on the (much) slower EDGE access.

Thanks,
Dave F.

Bugs, YES. Search has always been screwed up on the new version. Try searching for "koa", you get no results.
