Dennis,

For what it is worth. When I read this.

============================
Individual Members (non-commercial) $20

Sellers (Sponsor level) $50

Sellers (Promoter or above level) $Free

Sellers (Non OLF sponsors) $100
============================

I took the difference between Individual Members(non-commercial) and Sellers(Non OLF sponcers) to be how much you plan to offer. I do not sell for a living(have year round offerings, a web site or what have you), but I plan to offer more than a few extra things from around the shop. I figured $100 sounded more appropriate for me totally based on how much I will offer($100 is less than half the fee for the last swap and less than the one before that, at least for me). If I was only going to put up a handful of items, I would think $20 is more appropriate(If the amount you plan to offer is large enough, I doubt you will think twice about the $100, if you are not sure your probably in the $20 range-*remember last time small offerings were free last time, up to about $500 and the cost of the next $500 was small). Anywho... that is what I made of it.

Peace,Rich

Hesh and Rich,

Thanks for shedding some light for the neophytes. Recommend any pre-game warm-up exercises to get ready for the keyboard shredding?

A few warm up sessions of sleeping on the sofa might be in order. You might want to go pawn the kids or the mother in law now. It nice to have a reserve in place before the doors open. The wares will be astounding if not dizzying.

I made rather loud happy noises this morning when I read the title of the thread; which got Sweetie's attention. After explaining, with enthusiasm, I was treated with a glare and silence. Eventually the comment, "This isn't going to be a repeat of last year is it? We are remodeling the den." came tumbling out. I must confess, I looked like a guppy out of water for a while, searching for an appropriate answer. I think I ended up just looking sheepish.

Ahh, the joys of a joint bank account.

Lance,
It might be pretty ruff for the folks with less than lightning fast internet connections to have a chance to look around at all the tables before figuring out what they want to try to buy. We load those threads with pictures and they get pretty long, not to mention the speed may slow down a bit if everyone is trying to look at all the tables right at opening. I think opening it up for everyone to look a day or two early worked pretty good last time, and seemed everyone was pretty happy.

Rich

After everyone that has signed up to sell is in and set up, we will remove the password protection and lock down the swapmeet forum (NO POSTS) then that will let everyone in to look around real good.
Then at a preset time yet to be announced we will UNLOCK it and let the mayhem begin! Eat Drink

Dennis, here is an explanation of the levels.

============================
Individual Members (non-commercial) $20 (People like you and me)

Sellers (Sponsor level) $50 (Official OLF Sponsors at our "SPONSOR LEVEL)

Sellers (Promoter or above level) $Free

Sellers (Non OLF sponsors) $100 (business that are NOT OLF SPONORS)
============================

Lillian's warning is a good one.

I joined last year right before the October Swap Meet. I did not have WAS before the meet, I didn't even know what WAS was. I set myself a generous budget and I spent it all with BobC AND again with ColonialTonewoods AND again with Grant Goltz AND again with Larry Davis and I just threw all the rest of my cash around the room to everyone.

They call it a swap meet but what it WAS was the Luthier's Bada Bing Club

Beware, these guys are nasty. Their stable of beauties dont mind showing their figures.They'll point out how they shimmer, they might cover some in silk but mostly they're all bare and wet. You will find one you want to take home whether Asian, Latina, African, American, or Canadian. No wonder so many guys were saying 'Dont tell my wife I was here' and "I'll hide them in the garage"

Lillian and Greg are right and their warnings are good ones........

Even though the swap meets on the OLF are lots of fun there is a price, a hidden price, that may result in anything from domestic tension to full financial ruin.......

I found this picture of some of the sponsors after their participation in last years OLF swap...... Do these guys look like serious guys? :D BTW one of them is named Hesh...... :D

Man, I didn't think this as coming until fall. I just closed on a house two days ago and told myself I wouldn't buy any more zoot until the fall swap meet. I guess some of that extra stock I sold to cover furniture, paint, lawn mower, ceiling fans...may end up on the zoot pile. Be strong Zach, be strong. Must not buy zoot. :x

Is the pre-payment thing for sellers only? Or do buyers pay a $20 fee upfront as well? I'm a new member and almost done with my first build. Thought I'd wait to post until I had something to show you all, but this swap meet sounds like too much fun and I want to make sure I'm eligible to give away all my money. Please let me know, I have PayPal account primed and ready to fire.

Thanks,
George :-)

Hi Lance,

You have made it way too simple, so of course my brain immediately jumps to the next level of complexity. What do these terms mean?

============================
Individual Members (non-commercial) $20

Sellers (Sponsor level) $50

Sellers (Promoter or above level) $Free

Sellers (Non OLF sponsors) $100
============================

OK, I know I'm not a sponsor or promoter. I'm just a guy with more wood than sense, and would love to sell a few sets so I can buy a few more sets. (I told you I was short on sense.) I know I must be either the first category, or the last category. Is a "seller" someone who sells stuff to luthiers on an ongoing (full or part time business) basis?

Thanks,

Dennis

Your in the first category ;)

Hey all - if my listing looks half-finished...that's because it is.

We had bad storms hit late Friday night and I've been dealing with a flooded basement, downed trees and limbs, no power, etc. since then. I'm going to try and update my listing tomorrow when the forum is unlocked. I have several more back/sides sets to list and have to get prices on things. Will respond to posts/PMs when I can. We still don't have power (I'm at my parents), so if I'm slow answering questions, please don't think I'm ignoring you.

Thanks for your understanding,

Andrew

Anyone know why the SwapMeet forum is Locked to Sellers?

I'm ready to add my Claro Walnut Sets and Photos.

Thanks, Bruce Dickey

I'll try again in the morning. Fingers Crossed I don't miss it.

Also I have some Waverly and Grover tuners to list.

Hey guys, I'm traveling on family and work business at the moment, but I plan on getting a sellers thread from Lance for the last couple days of the swap meet if I'm not dead tired when I get home. Was in Atlanta yesterday and St. Jo, MO last night..driving.

I'll not have time for much, but will post some old growth BRW fingerboards and bridge stock for sure. Got some Queensland maple sets and other things from the "want" list. If you haven't sourced BRW by then it'll be available assuming not all I want to do is watch my big TV thru my reclined feet after this trip [xx(] Larry
