Oh, and for the rest of the weekend....

I've been pretty busy. I've steamed the neck off of my old Stella to find portions of Popsicle sticks in the dovetail and tons of really old glue. Stella will get a neck reset, two additional small braces in the upper bout, a bone nut, a couple of cracks stabilized and a complete re-fret over the next week or so. Per David's suggestion, I'm going to leave the tailpiece on it and use the original wire bridge. I'm getting a few shots here and there, so at some point there will be pics posted. Looking forward to having this old thing playable.

Also I'm going to begin finishing the back and side of number two with the P&L wiping varnish in the morning. I've experimented with both the satin and the gloss varnish and gloss will go on the EIR over shellac seal.

Very cool, way to go Chris [:Y:]

Sounds like you guys really celebrated well!

As for the weekend, we finally have some nice weather on the west coast, spent some time in the yard and today I'm going to spend the day looking at ski boats to buy down in Washington, should be fun.

I finaly cut the rim to inlet my upper braces, I thought I went a tad too deep at first , but after a preliminary fit , its the perfect depth ! bliss , I made a little table to glue the top to the rims , sanded the edges of the rim and top will be putting them together after some pasta for dinner ! I decided to glue the top on first for access in case I think I need to adjust the braces a bit more !
I took a bit more off the lower ends of the x braces to give it some added flexibility in that area .. trying to think ahead in all of this .. Jody

No where close to Chris' accomplishment, but I can cross thickness gage off of the list of "Things I need" It needs sanding and a finish, but it's functional at this point. Still haven't decided if I'm going to put feet on it or not.

One of these days we will replace the camera.
