Any recommendations? The cheap sets are fine 95% of the time but I'm ready to spring for a set where all the bits are straight and accurate.

Whatever set you get, I'm a big fan of titanium nitride coating. They last a real long time. The treatment brings the hardness up to a 72 Rc which is really hard. You can tell easily by the kind of gold color it imparts.

Another vote for Lee Valley. Good stuff and beautiful catalogs for the throne room! :D

I am also in the market for good drill bits for steel string building.

I was thinking about these:

Any suggestions for basic sizes that are commonly used? Lee Valley has carbide-tipped bits as well - are they really "worth" the extra cost?

Thx!

Glenn
