Hello,

I tried to find (google) the dimensions of a J-45 (just width, length and depth of the body) but had to stopp unsuccessfully. Can any kind soul provide these informations?

BTW: there are some really excellent plans (OM, OO, L-OO, Uke) in dxf-format (AutoCad) and .pdf on Christophe GrellierĀ“s web site for free: http://www.grellier.fr/plans.php?lang=en

Regards,
Martin

The J-45 body dimensions are as follows:

Length: 20-1/8" (511mm)
Width: 16" (406mm)
Depth at End Pin: 4-7/8" (124mm)
Depth at Neck: 3-7/8" (98mm)

Christophe's site is great - especially the Weissenborn photo essays - I borrowed heavily from his method.

Todd,

thank you so much!!! I wanted to check my CNC files and came up that I do not know agaist what to check ... ;-)

Thanks again and best regards,
Martin

I happen to have a J-45 here albeit a newer one. If I can provide any specific measurements, please let me know!

Great links guys, and thanks for posting these plans Christophe!

It is interesting to note in Gibson's Fabulous Flat-Top Guitars by Dan Erlewine, David Vinopal, and Eldon Whitford how much Gibson changed the depth of this model over the years. I do not have my copy in front of me at the moment, but can easily list the years/depths later this evening if anyone is interested though Todd's measurements seem spot on for at least one of the years listed.

Stew-Mac has the Michael Collins drawings of a '57 J45 on their website for around $22 bucks.
