I came across an old cedar log that was slowly being cut up for firewood by anglers and I thought I would take a bit to practice resawing on my new rikon bandsaw. I could also use some practice hand planing soundboards to thickness before I go to town on the lutz tops I got from Shane or the red spruce from Steve at Colonial. The cedar seems really nice and I was thinking of using it down the road but was wondering about whether it was still usable. Is there a way to tell other than building with it?
Thanks
Warren

If it's stiff, visually pleasing, and isn't full of end checks due to drying, what's not to like?
