Hey all,
I posted in the off topic section because I am not sure what the current etiquette is with the OT/Main areas. But ah well, here it is anyway.

I was wondering if anyone was interested in a mini OLF gathering for a bit of free food and hanging out. All are welcome, and I was thinking just a casual BBQ with burgers and dogs. Never having attended the GAL conference I don't know if it is too jam packed to squeak this in (the schedule does look quite full), but if an evening allows (or whatever time) I would happy to host. Let me know.

Edit: I'm about 5-10 minutes away from PLU

Hi Christian, I'm going to be at the GAL convention with my woodworking buddy Bill (who's thinking about becoming a luthier - well, he wants to use my tools/jigs to try it first....). We'd love to take you up on your offer if it will fit in to the schedule! We'll be driving up (from San Jose) so we'll be mobile, with a couple of spaces for others if they need a lift from PLU.

Hey, how about holding it on the Tuesday evening before the GAL event starts (Wed 1pm)? We're travelling up to arrive by then. I'm sure a lot of people will do the same thing. See what people say.....

Cheers,
Dave F.

Christian I would be up for the gathering , My flight does not arrive until 10:56 p.m. on the tenth , so the tuesday before is out for me ,unless you are up very late! I leave on the 17th so any evening after the convention would work for me , I will have a rental car so If anyone needs a ride from the convention ... Jody

Hi Christian. I will be there, and I'm tentatively interested in this possibility. What I mean is, I'd love to but I'm not sure about taking the time away from the convention. I go with an attitude of soaking up as much as I possibly can while the convention lasts. There are concerts every evening... it might work out to take one dinner time away and get back for the concert... I'm hesitant... I often find myself spontaneously making use of dinner time to catch up with someone I wanted to talk with about something that came up that day during a workshop or demo... I dunno...

Yeah, I looked at the schedule and I didn't realize so much, including dinner, was planned out. If this did work it sounds like it would have to be before the convention for anyone who shows up early. No big deal if it doesn't work at all. I can just keep the option out there.

Christian,
Very kind offer, much appreciated!
Todd summed up my own hesitations perfectly.
Usually there isn't a free moment in all the goings-on.
I'm coming in Tuesday as well, but already have dinner commitments w/ my old college roomie who lives in Puyallup (or however that's spelled). But there's nothing saying we can't connect during the convention and get acquainted.
By the way Todd, it will be good to see you again!

Steve

Evan,
Glad you chimed in. Looking forward to seeing you as well!
Think we can find a hot pastrami anywhere around PLU???

It will be good to see you, too, Steve - and Evan, and everybody else!

Steve, thanks for having the social graces (which I often lack  ) to thank Christian for his offer! Christian, it is indeed kind of you to extend this invitation. Thank you! I look forward to meeting you in any case.
