Yes, it's my own little slice of heaven in my backyard.
I worked and waited a long time for it. 24' x 34' (800+ s.f.)

here's my usually spotless bench, i had to mess it up to make Sam feel better....

i wont even show you the rest of the place (yet). I did see a square inch of bare wall the other day, cant find it now though idunno

it looks even better today after i was routing for 10 mins thinking the attached hoover was actually switched on...unfortunately it was just that the router was blasting out air and the dust with it straight onto every single thing within spitting distance (i verified)

Your shop looks great Curtis! [:Y:] I like the parts packages hanging on the walls too.

The bad thing about wearing ear protection is that I have done what you did only with a thickness sander and the Festool was not on but I could not tell until my dog ended up looking like a powdered donut........ :D

thanks Hesh, thats very kind, it looks such a tip to me really, and since 2 other shops have been emptied into mine its far far worse....i just hope i find a nice big box of Mullards in the piles of components that i've been 'given'!

but i spend 50+ hrs a week in there and i love it.

Wish i could have a dog with me in the shop, although i baby sat a tarantula there for a while. I have a mini camera that goes into acoustics and made my own little wildlife documentary showing 'Jeff' taking down a cricket in macro vision!

maybe i do spend too much time in there.....

Okay...I'm going to come out of lurking mode and contribute something....I have been playing around this summer with my camcorder, and I made this little (actually, it's kind of long -- 20 minutes!) video of my little (12' by 12') guitarmaking room (my power tools are out in a 10' by 12' shed in the back yard). It's very amateurish, as far as videos go, but still I had fun making this little "tour" of my space. It's on this page (down at the bottom) of this summer's project account: http://home.comcast.net/~kathymatsushita/moreprojects/htmlpages/atc2.html

Come and visit my mess!!!

Kathy

I enjoyed the video Kathy! I was wondering what you use to stand on to reach the chair that you use to stand on to reach things that are too high?.....lol

Hope you had a Happy Independance Day!

Thanks Hesh,
I may be disabled and can't spend the time I really want in my shop, and I may not know what I'm really doing is right, but dang, It sure feels goooooood when I have the opportunity. :)

Hey Robbie,
I think you forgot to use that bottle of titebond under the guitar with the top falling off....

Just kidding,

Nice shop. I like the office with the guitars hanging in there.

That guitar hit the concrete floor and needs a little reapir work.

The office is actually my humidified/de-humidifed room. I also have my go bar deck in there. This way I can actually build the guitar in the RH zone that the guitar will be living in after it is shipped.

Here are some pics of my cosy 7ft x 18ft shop which is what is left of my double garage after everything else is housed. A warning for Hesh. Please only glance quickly at the pics to avoid serious traumatic flashbacks down the track. :D

Regards

Craig.

Great shops everyone. Here is a photo of part of mine from three years ago. Wood storage and machines are to the photographer's left. It is not as clean today. The most important tool in July in Oklahoma is the A/C.

Craig my friend I took some Valium before I looked at your shop and when I did I liked what I saw...... :D Thanks for the warning though.

Kent buddy you have a great looking shop with lots of activity evident. I get the feeling that you have been at Lutherie for a while. Is this a profession for you or are you a hobby builder? I am sure we would love to see some of those very cool looking guitars.

Mike my friend there is nothing like quality shop time!!!!

Robbie you have the mother of all shops!!!! I would get lost in there but it still would be fun. I get the feeling that the college that you teach at has made a commitment to offering guitar building going forward and it looks like they have invested in this too. Congrats my friend for all that you do! [:Y:] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap]

Thanks Hesh! Indeed they are willing to make a long term investment in lutherie. I have some ideas to improve the program that I would like to implement in the next year or so. One of them is corporate sponsorship. If anyone has any ideas or experience in this area, I am all ears.

Robbie,
Yep, that's my cordless whizz-banger. It can be the difference between a good day and a bad day. beehive .

Thank's Hesh. Yes sir, I would say I am semi-pro in as much as I put alot of hours in every week in addition to my day job. I am blessed to have a list to work off. It's funny, I have been building these things for 16 years but I still have a hard time refering to myself as a luthier. I have enormous respect for people that can do this and make a living at it. BTW, I love the look of your Black-top guitar. Very classy.
