I was wondering who all is going??

While sitting at work looking at the mountain of maple I have to process it dawned at me I'm far far ahead of my deadlines and the pile of work coming at me seems to get bigger and bigger the harder I work.
What to do when work is trying to swallow you whole and you have no real obligations? A roadtrip!

Thought I'd grab some extra memory for the digital camera, fill the trunk of my Bronco with maple and head down there for a weekend I'd otherwise spend doing laundry and getting some overtime in.

Hi Jason:
Add Paul Woolson, Hank Mauel, Brock Poling and Paul Davis to that list. PLease stop by our table and introduce yourself. You won't be permitted to bring any wood into the festival as LMI has strict rules. You had better do some research on lodging as Brock was having trouble finding a room about a month ago. You can visit some of the after hour parties and jams and it shouldn't be any trouble to unload your wood though.

Will do ;) If I can't get a hotel room I know some people in the area I could pull a favor from
And I know about the LMI rules, I won't be backpacking it through the festival just thought it would be a good way to show some samples and maybe move a couple sets in person to a few of those a little hesitant to buy wood sight unseen.

I was able to make a hotel reservation just today... at the spacious and luxurious Motel 6 in Santa Rosa North. I am pretty sure Bill Moll and Charlie Hoffman are staying there too....

Ooo this sounds good I hope I can get everything worked out. I need to get my tickets and room worked out. I think the Motel 6 is where my dad stayed.. uhm 2 Healdsburgs ago.. so 4 yrs ago. Just waiting to see if my younger brother (he's the one actually resawing sets when I'm busy chattin on the internet) will be coming along for the trip.

I'll probably have 50 standard 4-5A curly maple sets along with me to show as samples/sale sets and I'm gonna dig around my secret stash and see find some of the weird and wonderful stuff I save for VIPs =) Probably some spalt, or some 1 pieces.. dunno yet I'll see what I can find. I'm not looking to move a lot of wood I just think it would be a great chance to meet all these people I read about and talk to online. If I can sell a few sets or convert some new customers, all the better.

After reading up on what will be happening I think I'm going to have to try and get into those builder seminars and catch as many of the mini concerts as I can. I was suprised to see Kenny Hill is playing there. I got a copy of his latest CD last summer when he was up but I haven't seen him play live ( believe it or not at the time we didn't have a single guitar in our house ) Anyone who's doing a group dinner/drink, I'd love to get a chance to meet some of you in person if you can handle havin a couple young guys around If not I will find you in the show (profile pictures serve the same purpose as mugshots in this case) and pick your brain while your actually busy

I don't think I'm going to have any walnut with me. We haven't brought it in for a long time and the couple sets I have are stashed for my own building. I'll think about it

I do have some really funky quilt I'll be bringing with me. It has this deep color, but not splotchy ugly stain. The whole set is this great dark mix purples, browns, oranges. It reminds me of ambrosia maple but think quilted ambrosia without the bug holes or any clear white wood. I'm not sure how much I'll have but probably a decent pile.

I'm also working on a couple 1 piece archtop backs w/sides and I'll probably bring down a few mandolin sets (back, sides & neck).

For those who can't come anything thats left will go on sale at the end of august/beginning of september when our new website www.cvtonewood.com launches.

Alan Smithline, lived and studied with him and is about the best
contemporary player in his style.

When all else fails, clean the shop.

The Bear Republic is actually in Healdsburg (about 12 miles north of SR) and is just off the square. I don't know the street but shouldn't be too hard to find.
