John Watkins got the neck on the OLF 2 SJ Guitar Project and after a bit of body sanding it now heads over to Tony Ferguson for a first-class finish.

John built the CNC neck in his new shop, cut and inlayed OLF on the headstock. I like the way he bound the fingerboard, matching the binding of the guitar body binding done by Brock Poling.

John sent an email with additional pics you may view here:

Ships out Friday to Tony, yahoo! [:Y:] [clap]

Oh, Hank Mauel mentioned we need a really nice label for this guitar.

I agree, any volunteers? If you want to play around with making one, the details of participants can be found on the OLF 2 Forum Section of the OLF. Put Tony Ferguson down as the finisher. TIA. If you want to do this and make it official, PM me. bd

Very cool. I just wish everyone would quit calling it an "SJ". That designation has already been taken, at least 3 times that I know of (Gibson Southerner Jumbo, Gibson Super Jumbo, and Olson's Small Jumbo), each of which are distinctly different from this. I think it should have been retired from new use after the first (and best ;) ) one.

Thanks John, I'll go peek and make sure that's in the notes.

The OLFSJ #2 is heading to.......... Eat Drink

TONY! [clap]

yeah, sj, I've had all three in my shop, all great guitars.

Okay, trivia question: What term describes this English condition of verbiage? Small Jumbo

Ooops, all four in my shop, can't forget the OLF SJ designed by Mr. Michael Payne of the OLF Forum. I think you can actually buy copies of the plan here too.

The same speech idiom that is used by Allen McFarlen in naming his "Petite Jumbo"!

Hey, cool to see this guitar back on the tracks! It really looks beautiful.

Dennis, that would be an oxymoron, right?

Don, you are hopelessly in love with machines. Does your wife know?

John Mayes is indeed down for the bound fingerboard.

I love it when a plan comes together. bliss

Still time to get your name up in lights, we need a cool label and wall certificate or something any volunteers that do publishing type software?

All I know is the PAINT program in Windows.... grin.... [xx(]

Well, it's all packed up and ready for UPS. I didn't mask off the fingerboard extension, figuring I would leave that between Tony and whomever is doing the final setup. Here are a couple more pics right before it was closed up for good.

Careful, Joe. It's not too late to call UPS and redirect that masking chore to Indiana. :D
