Hey guys,
i just realised that i had never posted any pics of my guitars so here are a couple of my latest creation.

this was a commition for a well known 70,s-80,s singer.
i cant say her name for privacy reasons but she also released a interesting album a year or so ago.

the breif for this guitar was that she wanted a guitar for recording so it needed a sweet voice but not to strong at either extream.
i.e not to much bottom end not to much top end.
the sound needs to sit well in the mix without overpowering the other instruments etc.
also she wanted it based on previously favourate recording guitar an old 1960,s epiphone cortez.

the rest was pretty much up to me.

we decided to go with AAA Madagascan rosewood back and sides for this one with a wonderfull AAA grade lpine spruce top.

we also used a stunning peice of 100 year old cuban mahogany for the neck that actualy came from the island of cuba in 1898 buy a well known furniture maker.

the binding is curly honduras mahogany and the fingerboard, bridge. and outside of the head veneer is malaysian blackwood.
it also has snake wood bound soundhole end graft and the inside of the head veneer.

the finish is tru oil (yes even the top).

even though the shape is thae same as the cortez it is a very diferent guitar.
i personaly love this shape and it was a joy to build i will be offering it a standard model from now on.
it will be called the J.E.T fine handmade guitars, zortec recording model.

That's a very nice guitar - looking forward to more pictures. It must have been a fun project. The artist's first name wouldn't rhyme with mate would it?

Very nicely done indeed - it must have given you a "Kick Inside" making that one Lovely workmanship and the Tru-oil gives a very natural lustre to the instrument and makes a great tonal finish. I love the Cuban mahogany neck - as you know I'm currently building a guitar with 100 year old Cuban mahogany from Jaimaica (seems appropriate for me) and this wood is fabulous stuff!

Did you get any soundclips or will we have to wait for you know who's next album?

We'll have to meet up and talk guitars as well as wood.

Yes it sure was a real "kick inside" to see ther face when i handed it over it was real pleasure.

no sound clips as yet but i will try to get them to record some i think they have the kit to do it

it sure would be good to meet sometime but i will at cheltenham so we can up there.

i love the tru oil finish i think its very transparant tonaly and looks beutyfull,

The cuban stock i have is very nice i just wish i had more (nearly all gone now).
can you beive that the neck stock i have was a small percentage that was saved from being skiped.
probaby a full cubic meter was skiped before i could get to it

the jamaican stuff of roberts is the real deal too but i wish it came in bigger squares.
did you laminate the neck and stack the heel to get a neck out of it?
by the way robert has some stunning very very old curly honduras at present its only 1/2" thick but you can get some nice sets from it.
a bit too pricey for me to make profit from but you should snap it up before the cabinet makers buy it all.

That is a Very nice looking guitar! I like the shape a lot too.
Your bridge is a very nice shape and the tru-oil finish
gives it a great look. I like it a lot!
