Hello all--Wondering if any of you have experience with the Elte spindles?
Any idea what this little guy might be capable of?
Thanks
Nelson

Hi
I had an elte spindle that was nothing but trouble. It had the integrated vfd and somtimes it would reverse direction for no reason. It was also a very loud spindle (as loud or louder that a portercable handheld router). I ended up sending it back and getting a columbo 1.5 kw with a hitachi vfd and am very happy with that setup. Perhaps I got a dud, but I would never buy another one.

Would you happen to remember which model of Elte it was?

Hey Nelson,

It's beginning to sound like you're looking for a good spindle... ;)

Why not just spring for the Columbo?
Of course it also sounds like John Watkins uses the HSD, so you know that's a good recommendation too.

Actually, I have the Colombo v92 frame. Three and a half years of 10 hours a day and zero maintenance. Hard to beat. I am on my third VFD, however, and they aren't too cheap either.

Yes, I need to upgrade to a spindle and get away from that da_n noisy router motor. Better yet I need to sell my 24x24 Techno and upgrade to about a 24x48 machine. Would like the capability of running two archtop plates side by side on a fixture, one cutting the outside and, on the next station, the inside of the plate.

I believe it was a tmpe, around 1.2 kw. I looked on their website, and I didn't see the model with the integrated vfd anymore.
